Roman terracotta lucern with Helios100-200 AD

"Terracotta Roman Lucerne with Helios, AD 100-200". The Phoenicians will popularize the use of skylights and thanks to trade they will be distributed throughout the Mediterranean. The Roman and Greek ones that will be made by mold will be more popular, and with various scenes, which, due to their cheap price and interest, used to become collectibles. In this skylight appears Helios, who was the Roman divinity of fire and was also identified by the sun. It was said that Apollo himself or Helios, were the ones who carried the chariot of fire that ran through the entire ecumene (what the Greeks understood by world); this was dawn.

Very good state of conservation.

Provenance: Purchased at auction from the Archaeological Center, Israel in 2006. 8.2cm
