Greek Polychrome Lekhytos 3rd CBC

"Lekythos of Canosa, 3rd century BC". Lekythos in the form of a female head, with a seven-pointed diadem and two long palm leaves placed on the sides of the neck. The vase is surmounted by a standing female figure, with a diadem in her hair and dressed in a long, wide-enveloping mantle or himation. It features a long ribbon handle that runs vertically from the back of the figurine to the back of the head. This lekythos comes from Canosa di Puglia, an Italian town in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani. Lekythus was a type of Greek pottery used to store perfumed oil for body care. These types of vessels were also used as funerary vessels.

Good state of conservation.
